It is very clear. The watch on the right is easier to look at versus the left. Round shapes have a softer look and more commonly accepted. Rectangular shapes take a lot more time to get used to. Personally only when you have the history, provenance and a certain sense of clout would it appeal to the wearer. Example, JLC Reversos, Patek Gondolo, Cartier Santos (Dumont) and variations of the tonneau from various brands. Even then, rectangular shapes are an acquired taste. It will take a lot for one to get used to the Cubitus and form its own identity when you have such an iconic predecessor as the Nautilus. Do I think Thierry did a good job? I frankly do not know. But he’s got the balls I say. And Patek being Patek, they always have that advantage of being the “leader of the pack”. They can really do whatever they want, while collectors such as myself, are just sheep. We follow, like it or not. In due time this timepiece will have its own fan club. But I’ll say it again. No way can it ever surpass the Nautilus.
