It's getting pretty mainstream.
Back in the day when people made their first million, they would say they wanted a nice Rolex watch. Today, a Patek Philippe is very often mentioned as well. High school kids who listen to rap music know what a Patek Philippe is today and its place at the top of the watch echelon. And I definitely acknowledge that the spectacle of the Nautilus has killed the joy for me as well. I admittedly don't wear one as often as I used to, since it's even dangerous to wear one nowadays.

All of the exposure seems to be around the sport line -- nautilus and to a lesser extent aquanaut. Higher complications are largely ignored, and white-colored precious metals get little play as well..

I agree for sure brand awareness has gone staight up with Patek. And sadly I have recently felt a heightened awareness about personal safety wearing certain watches. Before it never even crossed my mind, but in the past year now I think about it.
