I spoke with some of the artists in New York at the Patek Philippe exhibition and I asked if the apprentice artists were as good as the master. Almost all of them said they have a long ways to go and it's very difficult to assess their full potential today and in the future it will be even harder for them to individually achieve their full potential. Good points, Joe. As for movement finishings, it depends on the brand we are talking about. For example, we don't expect a superb movement in a vintage ( or modern ) Rolex.
For a vintage Rolex, we are more about history, charm, soul.... For a Patek, it is different. Same for Lange, or some Independents such as Voutilainen...
