HI! Just started collecting Patek watches a few months ago, will be great to get some valuable advice. Here are my current collection....

A lovely, lovely collection of coloured metal Patreks! Must be like meditation looking at those pieces. As you like coloured metal pieces: the 5078 R might be a (very) difficult task but a must have for a collector of your calibre. Best Moritz

Hi. I've just confirmed the purchase of a discontinued 42mm 5079J (bigger version of the current model 5078) from another collector and should have possession of it by next week. Appreciate the suggestion!!!

Yes....the 5070 is rare and an exquisite piece but I recently placed an order for a 5074 and it looks quite similar to the 5070 except for a lunar calendar and minute repeater added in. Should arrive before the end of the this year. Thanks for the suggest...

Yes you are correct. But as I just got started on Patek I should be having a more varied range of pieces with different high end complications. Will update when I have the chance. Cheers!

On the AP forum you posted that you are waiting to get 2 Pateks back from the service center before showing us your collection. If you just started buying these watches in the last few months why do they need any servicing at all? Based on your AP posts a...

... you will see how nicely the dial plays with the light. Worldtime should be fantastic, as the enamel dials always reveals new details according the surrounding, the sun, whether its a sunset, or morning sun, etc... 5980R has so many variations of brown...

I'm going to go ahead and say it. I don't believe any of this. Prove me wrong. Take a wrist shot. Take a wrist shot outdoors. They are all your watches. Almost everybody on this site appreciates a shot of the movement as much as one of the dial. All we go...

Supposing these really are your watches, you're an accumulator, not a collector. And your flippant self introduction is clearly rubbing some people the wrong way.

The original poster's "AP Collection" looks as suspect as his "Patek Collection". I too can post wrist shots of my visit to Rue du Rhone. But I don't. I even have wrist shots of a 2499, 1518, 1526 and others. My wrist. Somebody else's watches.

Put all your watches together. Set the time of all the watch the same at 6 o clock. Write on a piece of papers the names of all who doubt your watch. Include your middle finger in the foto........LOL. IF u can do that, you will silence all the doubters he... 

Even then that doesn't say much, I am sure we all got friends with Pateks that we can borrow and snap a picture. He could even be a watch dealer and has access at all times. If he says he owns the watches I will just believe it, but like I said above, if ... 

its sealed by dealer and its not autthentic Patek manner of sealing the watch. My Russian dealer do the the same once the plactic sleeve is cut. And, the Collector is saying that he is currently in Brazil world cup. Ok, why do not you just to the snapshot... 

Who cares what random people on the Internet think of you? You know whether you own the watches or don't. And if you do, you can be enjoying them while others here are jealously hoping they're not yours. :) Life's too short to waste time trying to be a bi...

whether the original poster is a collector of accumulator is irrelevant, and the terms are misleading. i have been a watch collector for more than 15 years and have had a range of watches from Tag Heuer to Patek. I have a list of (Patek) grail watches tha... 

As a "collector" myself for quite some time.. if I hit the lottery tonight.. first thing tomorrow morning I would be on the phone to my AD and numerous dealers to find me every piece I have always wanted but was unable to purchase. You name it I would buy... 

if I was collecting so many watches AT ONCE, i would request that after flying to Geneva (private of course, at my cost) , I take delivery from either Mr. Stern personally.

This guy could be Steeeevie Cohen for all we know.. it's all relative. These pieces are like buying a pack of gum to Stevie. You never know someone's circumstances. No need to hem and haw for 20% back.. multiple phone calls and emails over months and mont... 

An item being expensive and value is always relative to the individual purchaser. for a top tier investment banker or hedge fund manager that manages billions of dollars/euros/pounds, where time literally is money, paying extra to get what you want NOW is... 

And I agree with most of what you both write, especially in regard to funds and accumulating watches. I too would buy up all my dream watches as fast as I could if I suddenly had unlimited funds and I would not feel a bit guilty about it. I would not care...

Reminds me of a friend with similar taste. Modern pateks are nice watches to begin with. Then you can take different routes such as ultra rare vintage pocket watches(eg:tourbillon pocket warches made for chronometer competitions) and important vintage wri... 

And indulge completely in your passion for horology. It doesn't matter the prices and value and the speed of our acquisition if at the end of the day, we enjoy our watches and share our joy here. I think some of the experienced members have given you good... 

that's a very impressive PP collection you have there. i am also a strong supporter of PP and understand your delight in this brand. They make wonderful watches which are so refine and warm. Enjoy them in good health ! Cheers !
