Decollage: Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and the big players during the 1990s

KMII and Magnus recently posted threads highlighting a few watches from the 1990s. Coincidentally enough, I have been thinking frequently about the Go-Go 90s ever since I took possession of my 1995 AP RO QP this summer. I’m guessing that the average age on PPro is somewhere in the 50’s, so most of you were growing into your careers 25+ years ago and perhaps had started collecting watches; as for others on PPro, it was a time of our formative university years & entry into the workforce and our awareness ... ...">Story

September Vienna GTG - another one of the intercontinental variety

Avatar
KMII
GTGs are one of the truly wonderful features of PuristSPro, and recently - now that everyone is safely home - we have had another wonderful one in Vienna. Featuring participants (from West to East) from the US, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary and Japan, it certainly did not lack for diversity - and somewhat unusually, we even had a lady participant, which was highly welcome (especially since she was truly gracious in letting us be like little children with a new toy train set, in a restaurant ). Unlike ... ...">Story

Short review of my latest acquisition - the Ming Watches 17.01

Avatar
KMII
While we all like to believe to be masters of our own destinies, sometimes life throws us a curve ball. And while mine - of late 2016 - was fortunately not of the kind that will derail my further life unduly, it did result in the watch budget being drained, all the way into deep red territory. Still, exceptions can sometimes be managed (the P15 is one I am very grateful for). At the same time, curve balls come in different shapes and forms - some truly positive, too...">Story

When three P15s meet in a bar - a little Viennese GTG

Avatar
KMII
Last week the Vienna based P15 owners met up with a mission of eating, drinking and talking watches. And of helping the penultimate Zenith Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Puristspro Edition hatch Unfortunately not all the KuK members with the P15 could make it, so it was an intimate - but by no means diminished - affair. Here's a picture of the P15 trio but I'm getting ahead of myself When he had the plates cleared, the dessert proper got presented - below. Surprising as that may be, one of us was still keeping his .....">Story

Living with an Armin Strom Tourbillon Skeleton Water - On the wrist review

Avatar
DonCorson
The Armin Strom skeleton tourbillons are for me the essence of the brand touching as they do the history of Armin Strom and his skeleton watches and the consequent use of in house movements in all their watches. The Tourbillon Skeleton Water has a stainless steel case and blue PVD coated main plate which spreads a blue glow in the movement in accord with the water theme, without being overbearing. The dial is in sapphire so as to hide nothing. The movement is generously skeletonised in a rigorously modern .....">Story

Review: A family of military chronographs, with a special dial: Hamilton.

Avatar
amanico
Hamilton has a unique dial shared with various military chronographs like Omega and Breitling. The black dial Hamilton Chronograph stands out, with a sterile version and a stunning 'Gilt' version. The 'Gilt' features an asymetric case with thick pushers, Valjoux movement, and a glossy finish. Despite being underrated, these military chronographs offer charm, history, and exceptional aesthetics, perfect for Nato strap lovers....">Story

Zenith P15 Chain scan... All fifty (50) Zenith cronometro P15 members accounted for in this thread. Congratulations.

andrewluff
Now I believe Abel was the last person to receive their P15... so Bill, who has been holding out on opening his until the last person received theirs can now also put his on his wrist! So rather than just a thread of posts... lets have fun and do a Wristscan to see if we can get ALL 50! If you don't know what that is, basically just a photo of it on your wrist in front of your screen (or tablet or phone) showing the picture of the last one). I will post the first picture below and if you can put the number .....">Story
