Zenith P15 Chain scan... All fifty (50) Zenith cronometro P15 members accounted for in this thread. Congratulations.

andrewluff
Now I believe Abel was the last person to receive their P15... so Bill, who has been holding out on opening his until the last person received theirs can now also put his on his wrist! So rather than just a thread of posts... lets have fun and do a Wristscan to see if we can get ALL 50! If you don't know what that is, basically just a photo of it on your wrist in front of your screen (or tablet or phone) showing the picture of the last one). I will post the first picture below and if you can put the number .....">Story

A Visit to the manufacture Schwarz Etienne in La Chaux-de-Fonds

Avatar

Schwarz Etienne is a watch manufacturer that may be unknown to you, but they have the potential to be an important player in the near future. Schwarz Etienne is actually no stranger in the watch industry, founded as they were in 1902 by Paul Arthur Schwarz and his wife Olga Etienne, they were for most of their history movement suppliers to many of the big brands. Under new ownership for the last 10 years they have a series of new movements and watches sold under their own name. Here we see the retrograde .....">Story

Celebrating the 21th anniversary of Parmigiani Fleurier in Paris

Avatar

A few days ago, I was invited to a very special celebration in Paris: the 21th anniversary of Parmigiani Fleurier and at the same time, the second anniversary of the Salon Parmigiani in the capital of France. The Salon Parmigiani is one of my fav horological places in Paris. For two main reasons: its location, in the arcade of the Palais Royal Gardens and because the staff always offers a warm welcome to the visitors. I like the concept put in place by Parmigiani...">Story

The Secret L'Epee Fiona Krüger Vanitas Clock Having kept the secret for 9 weeks since my sneak peek at Baselworld 2017 under pain of Death, I am finally unburdened from the haunting L'Epee Fiona Krüger Vanitas Clock. PuristS will be familiar with the skull theme as we have seen skull watches from many brands like Richard Mille, Speake-Marin, Hublot, Bell & Ross, Romain Jerome, Hajime Asaoka and even HYT. In the last few years, this theme has been in the purview of the Queen of Skulls - Fiona Krüger. PuristSPro .....">Story

An intriguing watch: Wittnauer Electro Chron.

Avatar

Let's start by the beginning. Several years ago, I saw a strange watch for sale from the Sixties, at an auction. It was said that it was Joe Di Maggio's own watch, and it came with the box, which is as original as the watch. As I know nothing about base ball, I knew nothing about Joe Di Maggio, but what intrigued me was the watch...">Story

Does a date sell a watch?

andrewluff
Just as a follow on from my fun thread, I have a serious question here.... Does the tag line 'Making watches since XXX' really sell watches or it is just all smoke and mirrors? Turn back a few months to Baselworld 2017 and a visit to my favourite area in the fair now relocated and rebranded as 'Les Ateliers' (previously known as the tent or the official name - The Palace). This was advertised as the place to visit for independent brands and for me, has always been the creative hub of the fair - the place ... ...">Story

Review: A dizzy view on Diving Watches from the Fifties.

Avatar
amanico
All is here, summed in one or two pictures, or almost. The roots of Diving Watches have to be searched in the Fifites, and the brands which set the fundamentals of what are our modern toolwatches are represented here: Blancpain and the Fifty Fathoms, and Rolex with the Submariner, of course... Since 1953. Then, the others: Tudior, Omega, Breitling, Jaeger Lecoultre, Zenith, Longines, and even Breguet, the great brands of that era wanted to play the underwater game...">Story

Another thought to ruminate on for this weekend while the very fun PuristS GTG in Europe is keeping us entertained with regular updates. I thought it’d be a good juxtaposition to compare what I’d call the good vs. not-so-good sides of our hobby: friendship/comradery & joy in ownership vs. commercialism...">Story
