I've seen the same kind of powertrain-preservation programming on ICE cars

The twin turbo V12 AMG "65s" and C7/Z06 Corvettes have a functionally similar reduced-power limp-mode that has been reported by the few owners who try to track them. I imagine it's present in other powerful forced-induction cars. And honestly, I'm sure it's as irrelevant to these drivers as the thermal protection mode is to Tesla drivers. Most just commute and run errands, even in supercars.
Best,
Tim
