That remains a challenge... I bet it happens, but likely not on schedule as planned.
But it looks like the first-generation roadsters are a pretty good buy on Autotrader right now. They're basically Lotus Elises with more torque, a lower CG, but more absolute mass to manage. By all accounts, the go quite nicely and provide a fun alternative to something like a new Alfa 4C; once Alfa announced mandatory automatic transmissions, the Gen-1 Tesla comparison no longer seemed crazy to me.

For everyday use, I’m sure there’s no issue with a Tesla if you live in a big city (so many Tesla cabs here in Geneva). I’m much more worried about a long trip ( 700km) with such a car.

The standard Tesla will keep that acceleration up to 120 km/h and after that slow down immensly. This Tesla Roadster will also slow down beyond 160 km per hour or will not have the same elasticity of the Chiron on the top end, from let us say 200 km per h...
