RSV...
I loved the RSV. I even got to play with the RSV Factory. But the example I tried had the suspension either set by someone who weighed 120kg (no sag at all with my weight) or an idiot. But such a compact, growly bike. That said, I don't have any desire to own a sportsbike for the road. They're 'obsolete' in a couple of years, the depreciation is bad, my licence is always in peril and my other bikes do it better. 
The SVX seat? The seat was worse than a CR250 crosser. Fun for dirt, but even 30 min in it on the road....bruised.
The wrong supermotards? What about a CR500 with cut-slicks (mate's death machine) or a Husaberg (the vibration means no kids).. ..I like them a lot and nearly built one as a commuting bike (KTM200 EXC). I have no access to Dukes apart from the one some friends ride or work on, but if I ever get a chance....

if your looking for the perfect starter bike i'd highly recommend the CBR600
Honda make bikes that are supremely easy to ride from novice to expert and the CBR600 has to be the best of the bunch. its fast, handles beautifully, looks good, sounds good and isnt overly expensive. no point spending a lot on the first bike just in case...

i dont know if its easier to manage, but Honda have a reputation for making bikes that are easy to handle and ride fast without needing a long time to get used to them unlike some other bikes. G

I've only tried the
Aprilia SVX Motard, which is good fun on 17" wheels. But not for long, the seat hurts and then the engine goes bang And also its big brother, the Dorsoduro...which is scary when you stop at the lights as I dooubt I could pick it up and you don't look too ...
