....I'll ever get to driving an F40.
MW suggested a SV650. Not a bad choice at all. Not expensive. Plenty of torque and a easier curve than a CBR. Nice engine note and extremely upgradable - there's lots of racing bits around to cafe racer them (and replace bits if you drop it - bars, pegs, exhausts). My dad had one that we put a GIanelli exhaust and some flatter bars on....a lot of fun (Until he somewhat compressed it against a tree up in the mountains.....)

if your looking for the perfect starter bike i'd highly recommend the CBR600
Honda make bikes that are supremely easy to ride from novice to expert and the CBR600 has to be the best of the bunch. its fast, handles beautifully, looks good, sounds good and isnt overly expensive. no point spending a lot on the first bike just in case...
