I had a feeling you would bring up the new PG version. It is beautiful, but the look o it is entirely different to me than the platinum, and for me it is the platinum that speaks loudly.
As you may see above, I don't get the size issues on this watch as it seems similar tomost other PPs, it is the shape of teh watch that is distinctive compared to other PPs.
As you may also see aove I do wonder about the movement, mainly because t is esentially the same movement as in teh 5214G, although the latter adds a sub-seconds inditaion, so it is more complicated than the 25-21 REC, right? So, is the movement in teh 5098 finished so much better or even at all better than the one in the 5124G to justify the cost differential? Or does the platinum case justify slightly more than twice the cost for the 5098P?
For me, the 5098P is a very dressy, "simple" watch, in some ways a definitive dress watch but with something extra due to the shape, the gorgeous dial, the font style, the rectangular movement. It seems to me atypical of PP, although I realize it recalls an early 20th-century design from the brand, somehow not entirely in keeping with the current collection, but that is perhaps why it speaks to me so much.
Thanks for posting some gorgeous photos of that gold 5098 -- she is a beauty.
