Patek Philippe

I am no expert on Patek Philippe, but I am wondering what the PP aficionados here think of the 5098P within the context of the Patek collection. Is this a well regarded model? For those of you who have bought it or considered it and then passed, what do y...  

First, I think the watch is stunning, the dial, hands, case...beautiful re-creation of a reference produced long ago circa 1920. That being said, I think there would be others who would opt for other references before the 5098P particularly if you did not... 

and I think the price for the Pt is pretty expensive compared to the gold version.

I am not a fan of the shape of dial or the slightly oversized numbers. I would much rather go for the 5124G

I have a feeling that the 5098P is not for many diehard fans of Patek, which is probably why it appeals to me. To be honest, many of the PP designs do not do it for me evne though I respect the brand and admire their watches greatly. But for some reason, ... 

The 5098P is pretty expensive, even for platinum, especially when compared to its brother the 5124G, which is slightly less than half the price. And I wonder if anything special is done with the mvoement that is essentially the same in both watches. As fo... 

I guess I had heard that there was some "controversy" regarding the movement. Actually what's inside is important to me, but I am not so concerned that it is a rectangular version of the 215 (if that is true), but I do wonder about the difference in the m...

It is rather small and I don't even have a big wrist. Other than its aesthetic value -- I do know people who absolutely love it -- I feel there isn't anything going for it, ie no complications at all, etc. At its price, I can think of a dozen other watche... 

The 5098 does not seem smaller than most of the other watches in their lineup. So, if one is comfortable with the size of PP watches in gneral, I am not sure why this one would be different. But you are right, it is "simple" watch without complications. T... 

Hi, I love this watch although I prefer the pink gold version. I find it perfect in every aspect, and love the calibre. Even if it's a re-shaped 215 it's much more beautiful and reminding calibre 9.90. I don't find it small personnaly. Cheers Dje...

Hi, My last pic was with the platinum one! In fact the calibre finish is the very same. The extra cost is I guess justified by the platinum case and the guilloche dial. I love that watch. Cheers Dje

But this is likely to be not only be the first but also the only PP for me. The probelme for me, is that while I admire Patek Philippe for many reasons, I nonetheless find very few PP watches compelling, and the several that I do, with the excpetion of th... 

I would advise you caution..... Go try on your options and do not rush your decision.... Having an idea of the ones you like you should also try the Nautilus line either steel or wg.... Another option would be 5124..... Enjoy the research and the options ...
