I would think that Patek has had an ongoing commitment to produce their watches to this level, so maybe I'm missing something here. I believe a seal, to the average customer, would imply reliability (performance) as well. You are absolutely right though, if someone buys a watch after reading the promises and commitments regarding the seal and encounters a problem, I feel, the seal for all it represents, will be viewed quite differently. Additionally, the best service would be expected without complaint.
