Rolex

That's a wise advice!!

Thank you!

Have you ridden on this merry-go-round too?

I must confess I have ... some years ago...

I completely agree with you if a collector appreciates and enjoys every single piece of his/her watch collection.

Because IMHO it's also a loss to store watches in a bank vault without any "relationship" (ok - we sometimes forget that they are just things smile), without being delighted and without wearing them - at least from time to time.

The challenge is - also for me as a small collector - that taste and knowledge(!) evolve over the years.

My first high-end watch was an IWC Da Vinci perpetual calendar (the round case) in WG with a white dial. It also had a very nice number on the back of the case.

I loved this watch. But during my involvement with the "watch virus" I learned that it was "just" an assembled watch with no inhouse movement (ETA as far as I can remember). And the informations on the dial became very difficult to read for me. So I sold it, together with some other pieces (among them another IWC, two golden Bulovas I didn't like anymore, an ETA-PAM with a rather cluttered and rugged dial etc.), and upgraded to my PP.

And I haven't been missing those watches one second since then.
Perhaps I lost money. But I have never regretted that purifying process.

The DD36 if course is a complete other cup of tea. Here I fully agree with your thoughts.

This discussion is very helpful for me to clear my thoughts.

Thanks a lot for that, watch-er!

Best, Thomas
