... in years past that the lever machines are the best way to commune with the coffee gods. The entire process, from grind to tamp to pre-infusion to extraction is in your hands. And when you get it right, it's a magic feeling. My wife would laugh at me when I would come running to find her just to give here a taste of that occasional god shot.
My most memorable coffee ever was in a small cafe down an even smaller lane way in Venice, not long after sunrise on a crisp autumn morning. The espresso was pulled on a vintage lever machine by a barista just as old. It was superb, but I don't think I could find that place again even if I wanted to!

George, for me I think grind, tamp and pull is a form of therapy.
For others, it's a time suck. Both are valid positions. If the Nespresso delivers what you like, it may not be right to be rid of it. For me, though, the satisfaction of a great pull is worth the effort. Best, CaliforniaJed

I think you're asking about a "super automatic", Imran.
A superauto will grind, tamp and pull the shot for you. If you've been to Starbucks, that's the kind of machine typically in use. Yes, you can use fresh beans, but you will not have much if any control over the variables of grind, tamp, temperature, press...
