Studio Sarapenva kicked-off a long tradition I must say...Nordics themed timepieces.
It all started in 2020 with the famous MOOMIN, very recently the NAKKI trilogy and now the Finnish watch maker has come out with something totally interesting !
MIDNIGHT SUN, a timepiece Sarapenva worked together with Finnish F1 driver Valtteri Bottas on the design of this timepiece.
and the Nordics theme... When the sun betrays you, you can trust the watch!
When the boundaries between day and night melt away leaving all perplexed...is it day or night, reality or a dream?
Midnight sun comes with a 24- hour hand helping those trapped in the dance of endless light in the North !
The case is fully consistent to the Sarpaneva design codes...made of Outokumpu stainless steel from Finland.
It is well made, simply bold at 42mm and spanning 46mm lug to lug, fits naturally well with t he Moonbridge bracelet launched few months ago by Sarpaneva.
As of any Sarapeva dial, this dial is bright, beautiful and definitely intricate...made of 6 parts DLC coated stainless steel the dial is hand finished !
The dial acts as a generous canvas for the hand-painted Super-Luminova filled colorful dial...in the dark - this gives a dramatic effect with 8 different colors.
The movement is a modified Swiss-made Chronode P1003 Calibre with 24h complication, beating at 4 Hz with a power reserve of 60 hours.
Sarpaneva moonface acts as the winding mass on the ceramic ball-bearing mounted rotor.
The matt finished movement is Rhodium plated and is quite minimal.
The challenge, it is Limited to 20 timepieces BUT the good thing is, Sarpaneva delivers the timepiece in around 16 weeks !
The Midnight Sun is priced at 19000 euros...a bit lower than Nakki but quite consistent to the rest of Sarapneva catalog.
