The Double Tourbillon from Arnold and Son is not what we can call a novelty as it was first unveiled in 2014. BUT this year, the brand issued two sublime pieces unique, one with a Malachite dial, the other with an aventurine dial, adding some extra poetry and romanticism to these already exquisite watches.
The malachite dial:
The Double Tourbillon is a milestone in terms of balance and symmetry with its two tourbillons at 3 and 9 o' clock and the two different time subdials, offering two time zones, at 12 ( local time ) and 6 o' clock, with roman and arabic hour markers to differentiate them even more . These two subdials are made in opale. Each crown is dedicated to set the time and to wind the movements. So, basically, you have two watches in one, and one of the most poetic Travel Times I know.
The aventurine:
The two tourbillon bridges are mirror polished, in white gold.
As for the movement, it receives all the traditional treatments in terms of decoration and finishings, with perlage, Côtes de Genève, polished white gold chatons, bevelings. It is huge, with a 37, 30 mm diameter and quite thick: 8, 35mm. It beats at 21,600 alternances per hour, and has an excellent power reserve of 90 hours.
The dimensions of the movement explain those of the case: 43, 50 mm. I didn't find the height, but to the sapphire glass,it might be relatively important.
The sapphire glass is domed, to give some space to the tourbillons.
Now, Beauty, refinement and exclusivity has a price: 226, 200 CHF...
Best,
Nicolas
