Jaeger Lecoultre Duomètre à Chronographe, White Gold / Black Dial. 7th Anniversary!

Yes, this one landed on my wrist 7 years ago, exactly.

I will not write the tumultuous story again, as you all know how important is this watch for me. To make it short, I ordered it when I was back from the SIHH, in 2007, and got it in platinum, first, with a white dial ( quite a rare combination ). Then stolen to me in January 2011, and I bought it in white gold, this time, with this black dial, on the 26th of December, 2016.

The white gold case and black dial has more " cool factor ", is more powerful than the " platinum white " which is more refined, maybe.

I love this one so much that I really think that if I had to keep only one modern Jaeger Lecoultre, it would be this one. Yes, even over the Minute Repeater!

none

Isn't it smoking hot?  none

When I see it, I wonder what Jaeger can improve, as it was announced for some time now that a new Duometre is in the tube... The case, maybe? Less thick it would be good, a tad smaller ( 40 / 41 mm )? Why not.

But one thing is sure, it is not easy to touch an icon, to revisit it, without ruining its spirt and soul. It will be a tough challenge for the brand.

This one is maybe not perfect, but it is largely good enough for me. Totally charming, bewitching, eye catching, yes, it is a strong love affair, at the point that when I saw this introduced in the catalogue some years after the platinum, I started to wonder if I would not have it too, along with the platinum. Doubling a watch is something I never thought of, before... Which says a lot about the love I have for this piece.

Long life to the Duometre, and good luck to the Manufacture in revisiting it!

Best,

Nicolas

Thank you so much for your kind words, A. I fear they will take the opportunity to raise the price in a substantial way... We'll soon see...

Majestic! It is exciting to find out how the duometre is to evolve, and certainly hope they do not tread too far off from this icon's spirit.

I share the same hopes. Hard and risky to touch an icon....

What a beautiful watch! The Duometre is such an interesting watch - with an impressively finished movement. I would not be at all surprised to see a significant price increase on this line - which I consider a “loss leader” in terms of price compared to complications and finishi...

Watches and Wonders 2023: A review on the Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XPS.

I am not a super fan of these so-called " luxury sports watches ", and, among them, the Nautilus or the Royal Oak, with a preference for the Royal Oak, though. Same for the Vacheron 222. My favorite, till now, was the Girard Perregaux Laureato. As for the Chopard Alpine Eagle, I must say that it was not in my scope at all, and I don't even mention the St Moritz, which I always found too " rococo "...
