Favourite Girard-Perregaux of 2016?

Avatar

Friends, 2016 is coming to an end… Soon we will see the novelties for 2017 in Geneva at the SIHH Watch Fair! But before closing 2016 I would like to hear which one was your favourite of this year. In the “dream category” this year we saw two new versions of the Minute Repeater Tourbillon with Bridges (White Gold and Titanium), one new Tri-Axial Tourbillon (Titanium). The Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges (45mm) and La Esmeralda! We did not see a new version of the Neo Tourbillon (but it still haunts my dreams) this year. But we did see a new version of the Constant Escapement (46mm)! Another fantastic watch of this year, the GP 1966 Skeleton in Pink Gold...">Story

Throwback Thursday – 1960 Girard-Perregaux Watch Holders

Avatar

Friends, Before the holiday’s we have time for one more “Throwback Thursday”! Today I like to share some of my vintage watch holders. Before I start; we all know that the GP colour is blue… And what the colour represent! You might remember I told you that during a period Girard-Perregaux used green? I still don’t have conclusive hard proof of when exactly it started or when it ended… But, I do know that sometime in the end of 1950s and beginning of 1960s, GP used green as their signal colour! These watch holder are from that time. The Green Lantern (for size reference) is not matching in number of jewels or in year (1976), but in colour! Found in Sweden, English text: notice the “ROLLER BEARING”. Next, found also in Sweden, but with German text...">Story

Girard-Perregaux 1966 in 44mm case

Friends, One of the novelties of 2016 is the Girard-Perregaux 1966 in 44mm case, reference 49551. My first reaction when I heard this news was “too big”… The GP 1966 is a classic, elegant, line. The need of super-sized watch is not within this line. Then I saw the watch in real… My first reaction was “what a stunning dial”! The dial is big which I think is a strength here...">Story

Something for the ladies – Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Aventurine

Avatar
blomman Mr Blue
Friends, Now when we are closing in on the Holidays, it is time to think about what we should get our special lady for Christmas… One way to go would be traditional – chocolate, perfume or maybe a scarf… But if you really want to go the extra mile… How about the Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Aventurine?! It shows class, good taste and will definitely make her happy! One thing that I really like with GP is that they offer real watches for the ladies! Not just a smaller “less worked” version of a men’s watch. This Cat’s Eye Aventurine is a great example of a real ladies’ watch! A Pink Gold creation that is both a Jewellery and a Watch plus she would probably get very surprised… So, you might even say it is a “Kinder Egg” for ladies! The dark blue dial is like a night sky. Tingling and sparking! The 18 diamonds on the dial enhances the night sky look and if that was not enough, there are another 62 diamonds on the bezel. The Pink Gold leaf hands are accompanied with applied Pink Gold numerals at twelve and a day/night indicator under the sub-second at six...">Story

Seen in Vienna – Girard-Perregaux ref 9050

Avatar

Friends, In Vienna, I had the opportunity to see a lot of interesting and beautiful watches. Among them this late 1990s GP, the Girard-Perregaux reference 9050! At first glance it looks very “clean and simple” but if you look closer you will find a lot of very nice details! Plain white dial with applied Roman numerals in gold, perfectly matches with gold hands. Clean, elegant, sober with a lot of class! The dial reminds me of old pocket watches, where this is often seen. But then the “old and traditional” is brought back to modern time by the “Automatic” on the dial...">Story

Girard-Perregaux - Black, White and Red, ref 9034 Q

Avatar

Friends, I promised you a report on my recent acquisition, the Girard-Perregaux “Black, Red and Blue”, reference 9034 Q. As you may already have understood, this one is related to the 9034 “Dot dial” which we have seen examples from several batches - C, BB, FH and FK. I think it is safe to say that the Dot dial was included in even more batches. When it comes to the 9034 “Black, Red and Blue” (we still need to find a cool nickname for this one) I have less information to go on… Why? Because I didn’t see as many of this dial version as I saw of the Dot dial...">Story

Girard-Perregaux Accessories: Damier ref 7427 Box and Paper

Avatar
blomman Mr Blue
Friends, Did you know that Girard-Perregaux made special papers for the Damier?! Neither did I until recently… Earlier I have shown you the watch… … the catalogue… German catalogue 1963: … the ad… Italian ad 1965: I even showed you the store sign: Swedish store sign 1960 (same reference 7427 minus the Damier dial): Now I am able to show you the box and paper as well! This time from Mexico. The box is a generic Girard-Perregaux box used in the 1960s. Red with gold decorations. This type of box I have seen in several versions and decorations including different colours...">Story
