A bubble stimulated by Rolex and PP

 

I suppose the whole auction story when a steel PP chronograph goes for €10 mil+, or some Rolex watches go for €5 mil+ is a clever marketing stunt. Let me explain, a good marketing campaign (magazines, web, parties) costs A Lot Of Money and requires A Lot Of Effort. At the same time they have a cheaper possibility to spread their advertisement everywhere. They participate in an auction in some way or other and buy several watches at an astronomical price. Their job is done. Hundreds of bloggers/magazines/radio channels and other sources of information will spread the news FOR FREE. And the effect will be much more substantial then a usual marketing with a same budget (I mean the price paid for the auctioned watch).

It just shows that PP and Rolex have a wise marketing staff.
