Chronograph - a complete waste of complication
Hi everyone
I have been reading this page for nearly a year now. Thought would like to join the watch enthusiasts here and ask a few burning questions which I have. I am a new Patek fan and somehow cannot understand a few things about the brand and a few things about watches in general- so need your help.
Here goes...I think a chronograph is the most useless of a watch complication. Has anyone ever used it to time some event ? I have had a chrono for last ten years and never used the function.

and being beautifull is imo the most important when you buy a high end watch If it just needs to be usefull, a 100 euro quartz will do Now, about the complications ... I think a moonphase , a tourbillon and even a repeater are less usefull than a chronogr...
Chronograph: the only useful complication
Utility is a function of the user as well as the tool. I use a chronograph many times a day to time the duration of tasks (phone calls, reviewing documents, writing reports, etc.) for billing purposes. There's no other complication that would be as useful...

I have three watches with chronograph function
and I just love the way they look. You are right that I rarely use the chronograph. If you really want to time something accurately use a Timex or a Casio that can give you 1/100 seconds or better. But, as stated by others, there is more to a complication...
Not useful, a Minute Repeater?

Well..this was not supposed to stir any pot. I guess there are always two views on anything. A minute repeater can help you hear the time in complete darkness even after the glow has faded. Appreciate your point though. Cheers !

is hursh word, i find annual or perpetual complication more useful in daily use rather than chrono so i would choose for example 5726 over 5980, but sometimes i've got thing for simplicty and i would choose 5711 over 5726, people likings and loves change ...
