Though I am an example of a doctor using a chronograph as you suggest (see above), I believe the term "doctor's watch" or "doctor's chronograph" refers to one in which a pulsation scale on the rehaute or bezel (where the tachymetric scale might otherwise be) can be used to quickly determine pulse rate (heartbeats per minute).

and being beautifull is imo the most important when you buy a high end watch If it just needs to be usefull, a 100 euro quartz will do Now, about the complications ... I think a moonphase , a tourbillon and even a repeater are less usefull than a chronogr...
Chronograph: the only useful complication
Utility is a function of the user as well as the tool. I use a chronograph many times a day to time the duration of tasks (phone calls, reviewing documents, writing reports, etc.) for billing purposes. There's no other complication that would be as useful...

and I just love the way they look. You are right that I rarely use the chronograph. If you really want to time something accurately use a Timex or a Casio that can give you 1/100 seconds or better. But, as stated by others, there is more to a complication...
