a complete waste
is hursh word, i find annual or perpetual complication more useful in daily use rather than chrono so i would choose for example 5726 over 5980, but sometimes i've got thing for simplicty and i would choose 5711 over 5726, people likings and loves change all the time so they buy what makes them happy. 5970 in another hand is example where perpetual and chrono go hand to hand.Perpetual complication over chrono is also good for example, when you try to justify yourself to watch noob spending a sh&%$load of money on watch
i agree

Agree with you on that. A chrono function only makes the dial a bit interesting and gives the watch a sporty look ! personally I would rather have a annual calendar, moonphase, reserve de marche, perpetual or a minute repeater function... thanks for your ...
Not Horology

I associate Horolgy more to do with the time of day, the month, year , lunar year, concepts of leap year etc rather than measuring the time interval between two points. I realise that I may be shortening the scope of the word itself. Thought would provoke...

Chronos: useful & enjoyable
By: fnk : December 21st, 2011-00:09
Variations of this kind of statement appear periodically on these forums. On a purely functional note, they are completely accurate, but they miss the whole point. Most of us do not buy watches only to tell time. It is part of a hobby & different aspe...

Hi, Yes I've looked at some Patek Philippe annual calendars and love the 5146G (and also the 5205G or the 5396) but they are now more expansive than a second hand Lange Datograph and on the back it's the same as a Nautilus 5711/A! I need more than that. B...

1) welcome to the forum, and it may have taken you 1 year to start posting, but its never too late. 2) I am unsure if you have been visiting other forums here, including the general horology forum HoMe. a question like this, if you are NOT just restrictin...

Thanks Horo for letting me know about HoMe. I think you correctly explained the real reason for owning a chrono. Much appreciated !! I am a great fan of Patek annual calendars esp 5205 and 5396 the ones with apertures. I will wait though for better colour...

Actually some time ago I, like you did, asked myself the question about practical aspect of Chronograph Complication. I haven't found any reply until I read in one article the following words: "DOCTOR'S WATCH". It was Evrica! Really, doctors, lowyers, per...
Doctor's Watch
By: Park : December 26th, 2011-08:10
Dennis, Though I am an example of a doctor using a chronograph as you suggest (see above), I believe the term "doctor's watch" or "doctor's chronograph" refers to one in which a pulsation scale on the rehaute or bezel (where the tachymetric scale might ot...
