Patek Philippe

As a 5110 and 5130 owner (or past owner), it is interesting to see you're open to this one

as it is very different in terms of style. It is difficult to make things evolve without losing the previous models' admirers.

I think I follow you on nearly every points (aside from the look as it is very subjective thus personal and to eachone his own feeling).

many here would have positively welcome soemthing new in terms of movement feature. As you say it can be a power reserve (though less a problem on an automatic you wear regularly maybe) but it would have been a nice addition. Maybe a 31-260 in the new QP would have been ideal for me and thus wouldn't have bothered about the 240 remaining in the 5230.

As for the city ring, it was something I tended to agree with when we talked about the 5130 and I'll make my new opinion when I see the 5230 in the metal. Sometimes, the bezel, hands, lugs or any other peripheral elements may also have an impact on the way this ring works in the dial...

You've been so trained with seeing the 5110's layout that I can imagine it might be harder for you than for me.

I agree the hands were beautiful in all the 3 references. This is indeed an original and interesting specificity of the WTs.

You know about your Crocodile thing... I had the same thoughts from the first pictures. In fact in these very first pics we seemed to see some relief as well as some plain surfaces. This made like a lezard-like surface.

From the croped pictures, I think it is just a lighting effect: to be checked in the metal too smile

Some will like it and some won't but I think we can say it is a very nice heir to the throne.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and interesting input Nicolas, next stop when we see it in the future.

Cheers, Mark
