Hi Mark!
We have similar taste. I know the 5110P gets a lot of press but I have always preferred the 5110R which I think is the most elegant and has the warmest colour of the 5110 range. If I had to choose between the two, I would opt for the 5230G because firstly,it would be new and there is a feel good factor when buying a new Patek. Secondly, the dial on the 5230G makes me keep returning to the AD to have another look. I have been to the AD three times in 24 hours and plan a final visit tomorrow morning before it moves to another AD. Rarely has a watch, apart from the enamelled world timers, been as captivating as this one.
But I would not blame you one bit if you bought both the 5230G and 5110R. I would if circumstances permited!

about the size of the pusher, my post was out of sequence and I was actually passing comment on the new 5230 having a larger button to advance the time zone - 5131R is unchanged.
Overall I like it a lot.
In particular the guilloche dial is beautifully done and I love the lugs. I am not yet convinced by the case - it does seem very angular from the photos, maybe it will feel less so in the metal.

I share your feelings about the proportions of the city ring and the dial.
And that is one of the attractions of the 5930 for me (apart from the addition of the chrono). The dial looks to be a better size.
