Patek Philippe

Hi everyone, Two of the main novelties from this 2016 Basel fair have particularly attracted most of the attention as they are the new World Time references: the Patek Philippe 5230 as a World Time only and the Patek Philippe 5930G as a new model, inspire...

I might do the same as Kari, regarding the platinum version, or alternatively fetch a new 5130P, as long as it will still be possible. That is assuming my secret project will not materialise with another WT. I find the 5130/5110 case shape more beautiful ... 

I think Alex that most of our tastes have been shaped through what we are used to seing, starting when we were young and moving on. The thing is that the older we've been staying in the field of watches for instance (but it is true in every other sectors)...

do think the revised cities are not as clearly differentiated as on previous 5110 and 5130 iterations, some names could be shortened as was previously done or possibly a very slightly smaller font? This issue looks to be further highlighted on the revised... 

but my first opinion would be that it works better for me that new way: - I like the "with serif" font very much and more tahn the 5130 (even if I liked the 5130's too). - The fact that 2 or 3 names are longer is something I find nice when looking at the ... 

about the size of the pusher, my post was out of sequence and I was actually passing comment on the new 5230 having a larger button to advance the time zone - 5131R is unchanged.

In particular the guilloche dial is beautifully done and I love the lugs. I am not yet convinced by the case - it does seem very angular from the photos, maybe it will feel less so in the metal.

is very similar to the 5396/5496 one. I found it a little "cold" in these latter references. On the contrary, with the new lugs and the beautiful dial I think it is the good modern that way (and not the cold one). But this is very personal and this is som... 

To me this WT is possibly the best version: where the predecessor was a it big feeling on the wrist and the 5110 maybe too small for the liking of many, but not mine, this 5230 is perfect. The guilloche is also, judging by pictures only, maybe the best as...

I welcome with a blend of impatience excitation and anxiety every new version of the World Time from Patek. The fact that I own the 5110P didn't make me reject the 5130. I bought it, too, ( G ) then sold it because, for me, the 5110P kills it, in terms of... 

And that is one of the attractions of the 5930 for me (apart from the addition of the chrono). The dial looks to be a better size.

but I managed to try on the 5230 and 5930 last night at a function at an AD and while some present preferred the 5930, I personally felt that the 5230 was a lot more wearable not just because of its diameter but because the height of the 5930 at 12.8mm is... 

the 5930 quite thick. The 5230's guilloche is very detailed and IMO takes more efforts to make given its "basket" pattern. Cheers, Gordon

I had the 5110R in mind that I love. Now, I can't decide now which one I would prefer: 5230 or 5110? Time will tell

We have similar taste. I know the 5110P gets a lot of press but I have always preferred the 5110R which I think is the most elegant and has the warmest colour of the 5110 range. If I had to choose between the two, I would opt for the 5230G because firstly... 

The 5930 is a very different offer. More complicated and as, a consequence, thicker. Of course the design is less traditional classic and more 40's / 50's classic. I like the proportions for the 5930 that way but it is indeed much more different than the ...
