…comprehensive indeed.
This OG Ti Octo Finissimo owner has a few Rimowa bags - and hasn’t used his aluminium one in years. Nowadays it’s a mid-sized (the 23cm deep one) ‘Limbo’ - same latched construction as the aluminium models, but with the main panels in polycarbonate, much lighter and with a bit of flex - for most trips, or a 20cm deep one for weekends away. And Mrs E is exclusively using the Salsa model with a zippable front pocket for easy access to laptop etc, in matte black polycarbonate, along with a matching matte black trunk when checked baggage can’t be avoided (she’s actually pretty good about not checking bags). No, the polycarbonate models won’t last virtually forever like the aluminium ones: I had to send one in for a crack last year (it was my fault; and it was very well repaired). But from a practicality standpoint - light weight, flexible panels, not to mention rather less spendy and more stealthy - they have become our preference.
