Watches and Wonders 2024: Some thoughts and wishes about the CHOPARD MILLE MIGLIA CLASSIC CHRONOGRAPH JX7.

Chopard comes with a new version of the  MILLE MIGLIA, called CLASSIC CHRONOGRAPH JX7, which is a limited edition of 250 pieces

Nothing really new under the sun, with the exception of a superb deep dark blue dial and a nice decoration on the case back. Even if I would have preferred a solid case back for some reasons I will mention below, mainly because of the movement.

none

As for the dial, I would have gone for a " no date " version. At 4.30, this date kills the purity and the symmetry of this very cool looking dial.

none

The case is made of steel,  40, 5 mm big, 12, 88 mm high. Nicely finished and decorated, I must say. I still think it could have been a tad slimmer. 2 mm slimmer would have been even nicer.

none

The superb Dunlop tire strap is here, for our greatest pleasure, with a nice pin buckle.

And the movement is an ETA, most probably the 2894-2, with a power reserve of 54 hours. The ETA movement is a good one, accurate, resistant, reliable, and here it is nicely decorated. BUT, it is small, with a 28, 60 mm diameter. So, a 38 or 39 mm case would be more appropriate. OR... Chopard should have gone for a solid case back...

none

And more importantly... At this level of price, 11, 100 Euros, I would consider an in-house movement, not an ETA. Omega is much cheaper, Rolex a bit above that price, but both of them come with their movement, not a " simple " ETA. Chopard, please, pretty please...

So, all in all, I like what I see. At the point we could work on a WPS Edition, with some improvements:

- No date.

none

none

- In house movement.

- Slimmer case, and perhaps a tad smaller one.

What do you think?

Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,

Best,

Nicolas

I love this one but I can't justify the price , as you said it's more expansive than omega in full bracelet , and only about 1000 euro cheaper than their new LUC XPS Forest ! but I can't deny it looks amazing Ahmed.

Yes, the price seems to be too ambitious...

I used to have a MM.  Even still have the matching cufflinks with the black rubber tread like the strap design. The watch didn’t stand the test of time so no longer with me. The cufflinks are still cool.

It didn’t speak to me any more.  I wore it bc I felt like I had to. That’s how I know I need to let something go for someone else to enjoy.

Logical.

Chopard in house chrono movement also small. 28.8mm vs. 28.6mm for ETA. At least the tachy scale here hides the crossed eye chrono register well. The in house LUC models not so good. Then the above 9-3 axis chrono registers which is least nice placement imo. I would rather have the ETA with closed b...

Well, the in house movement could work in a... 38 mm case... ;)

How to start? With the launch of the Tribute, Jaeger-Lecoultre had the secret idea to build a whole new family with the Geophysic. The Tribute was the first member, playing the card of the past, clearly, with one concession, the movement, which is not manual, like in the original, but automatic, with a fine setting of the balance wheel. The Tributes ( 2014 ) : In 2015, Jaeger-Lecoultre unveils two new Geophysics, the True Second, and the Universal Time, both sharing a new movement, the Cal 770, which offers ... .
