Horological Meandering

Because they tried hard.

At least in one of the two cases. In that case the company tried repeatedly to fix the watch, gave me relatively quick service, gave me a gift to palliate my unhappiness, etc. I ended up with great respect for the company in all matters except that they could not get my watch to run properly.

In the other case, the company did not try hard. It was a simple matter of getting a bracelet link and it took several months for them to provide a link without the required screw and another long period just to get the screw. I learned that that was consistent with the reputation of the company, and when my watch needed service I just decided to sell it instead of going through the pain I knew the service process would cause. However, since all that actually happened to me was not having the link I needed (which admittedly prevented me from wearing the watch), I do not feel that I am fully qualified to "name names."
