Miranda, that is an excellent, perceptive and open minded commentary on Cubitus. I actually have come to appreciate and like it
the more I have read about it and the more images I have seen. While hardly a game changer and definitely something not entirely new it is an interesting and appealing derivatine of the Nautilus. Historically, square and rectangular Pateks were extremely desired and desirable, so nice to see a return to that shape in a modern Patek.
Regarding the platinum while at first glance it is reminiscent of 5712, it is quite different. Not only the big date and platinum case on a strap - instead of having the date around the moonphase it has the days of the week. I don’t ever recall seeing that in a Patek. And while there is no power reserve, I think having the days of the week is more appealing. So while at that price (or less), there are many other Pateks I would prefer to own, I do like.it. Love… no, but … like … yes.
Regarding the 2 tone, also nice but I much prefer the steel with olive green dial. Would have loved to own the 5711 1/A-014 olive green dial, but didn’t happen for me.so I am intrigued by the all steel version. While I need to see it in person and try it on, figuratively and literally my “big” concern is that the watch will be too big for my wrist. Of course, a second and equally important concern is will it appeal aesthetically in the metal and on my wrist. Time will tell.
Best, Patekova
