They screwed up." I do not think I could have stated it more clearly, so I do not understand the point of your response.
But apparently you have ignored my point about what IMO is the bad behavior of the man. As evidence in support of that opinion, consider that actually there were four passengers who were involuntarily bumped, but we only hear about the one guy. That is because the other three passengers vacated their seats without raising such a stink.
I am just suggesting that the fourth guy should have done that too, especially when it became obvious that he was going to be forcibly removed from the plane if he did not comply. IMO acknowledging the man's bad behavior does not excuse UA's actions. It's possible to hold both opinions at the same time.
If you disagree with my opinion that the man's behavior was childish and lacking in civility, then we will just have to agree to disagree.
