It is always quite difficult to know where we stand. We know what we like in a watch, trying to remain objective and factual but the feeling or rarity definitely plays a positive role (little or big depending on each one).
I feel exactly the same as you do and especially when considering the budget we gather for such watches. I would say maybe that for the 5960P (high volume indeed), that it is an excellent value for money (I would have gotten one already if it was a little lighter).
I must say that rarity is also an important factor for me. You feel you have something a little more special. I've been thinking about this lately and thought that considering the real possibility to see another one outside is so low that a normal reference is already rare. But I guess that our consumer's behaviour doesn't work like this.
