I totally agree
A way to avoid mistakes is to really focus on the watch itself. Its details are what we will be enjoying or not when we will be wearing it. Even if it is sometimes hard to ignore what comes around brands and models, and I imagine it is part of the charm too.
If the 5110, 5070, 5970, 5711 etc are where they are now it is for a reason. They have a beauty, a charm that is among the most interesting considering what we like in watches today. That's what makes it a little more difficult for new references to come in the front scene. Everyone looking for a new watch will have a lot to discover while widening its selection imho.
Then it is also a quaestion of where we come from in watchmaking, thus what details will attract us more, some hands type, specific guilloché patterns etc...
I pick the 5960 in my books as well, even though I don't hear much about it, at least not as I feel it deserves.
They are classics, definitely, I wish that the future will see some current references joining them.
Thanks for your valuable input on that matter Nicolas and thanks for sharing your 5070G and 5110P in this section (I wish you still have your 5980 but maybe the 5960 will come soon

).
Best, Mark
