Great analysis
I appreciate how you've laid out the competitive landscape. I'd consider the Zenith Defy Skyline at 9000 USD to fit into this landscape too, as it is another integrated watch with an interesting movement and good case and bracelet finishing.
The new Ingenieur is a safe play. Too safe, in my opinion, and late to the party. IWC enthusiasts have been waiting a long time for this watch, but I have doubts it will grow IWC's brand equity. There's nothing surprising about the watch, at least in photographs. It meets my expectations, which include a significant IWC price premium. Could AI not have chosen to bring this watch to market?
I thought the Chopard Alpine Eagle was a derivative cash-in too, when it was released. However, the line has grown into something special, with interesting movements joining the great case and bracelet finishing.. Perhaps we'll be saying the same of the new Ingenieur line in four years.
