Though I really like the new IWC Ingenieur, at first I was a little perplexed at the price, certainly in comparison with a lot of their Pilots series (not just the Mark XX), such as their Pilot 43 and Chronograph 41 series. Your article reminded me of the broader picture that one forgets, with other similar styled variants from other brands, and not just Rolex. I agree about brands such as the Alpine Eagle and Octo with their movements alone justifying pricing, but what about the Laureato series which command higher price tags to the new Ingenieur (should the latter not be priced the same)? Be that as it may, for me, it will boil down to whether I desire the watch enough to buy, and if so the current price I feel is quite reasonable.
